Hi everyone this is my first post. I have been reading and must say the info here is exhaustive.
We are gathering info on tiling our complete upper floor of 1400 sq. ft. with 6"x36" porcelain tile and I just want to ask if my procedures are sound.
Floor checks out with the deflecto and the following is my plan whether we do it ourselves or hire part of it out.
1. Demo existing carpet and tile areas down to the subfloor which is 3/4" t&g.
2. Add additional screws into joists as required.
3. Take care of any low spots with a self levelling product.
4. Install 1/2" cement backer board with thinset and screws. (screws not into joists correct)?
5. Install tile.
Does this sound correct?
